WEATHER FORECAST FOR MULTIDAY BOATS

For the sea areas in between 20N - 10S and 60E-100E

(Issued on 03 December 2021, for next three days)

 

 

 

Sea areas around the island

 

 

The low pressure area in the Central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression. It is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours.

Naval and fishing communities who are in the deep sea of the Central Bay of Bengal are advised to be attentive in this regard.

Condition of Rain:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Galle to Potuvil via Matara and Hambanthota during the night. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the other sea areas around the island.

Winds:

Winds will be mainly north-easterly in direction and the wind speed will be (20-30)kmph in the sea areas around the island.

State of Sea:

The sea areas around the island will be slight.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.

 

Bay of Bengal

The low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal concentrated into a Depression and lay centered near Lat. 12.0°N and Long. 87.5°E at 2330 hrs of 2nd December 2021. It is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over central parts of the Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. It is likely to reach west-central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh – south Odisha coasts around 4th December morning.

10N-18N, 85E-95E      : Showers or thundershowers at most places.

00-10N, 90E-100E       : Showers or thundershowers at most places.

Other sea areas              : Showers or thundershowers at several places.

                                                        

Winds:

10N-18N, 85E-95E     : Cyclonic /(40-50) kmph; gusting up to (60-70) kmph.

05N-10N, 80E-85E      : North-westerly to Westerly /(30-40) kmph.

05N-10N, 85E-100E   : South-westerly to Westerly / (30-40) kmph; gusting up to 50 kmph.

Other sea areas              : Southerly or Variable / (20-30) kmph.

 

 

 

State of the Sea:

10N-18N, 80E-95E     : Rough.

05N-10N, 80E-85E      : Moderate.  

05N-10N, 85E-100E   : Moderate, Fairly rough at times.

00- 05S, 85E-100E       : Showers or thundershowers at most places.

Other sea areas             : Showers or thundershowers at several places.

Winds:

00-05S, 60E-100E        : Westerly or Sout-westerly / (20-30) kmph.

05S-10S, 60E-100E     : Southeasterly / (20-30) kmph.

 

State of the Sea:

00-10S, 60E-100E        : Moderate.
