The Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘TAUKTAE” over south-east and east-central Arabian sea is
intensified into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm and lay centered at 0600Z of 16th May,
near latitude 15.7°N and longitude 72.7°E. It is very likely to intensify further.
The system is likely to move nearly north-northwestwards and cross Gujarat coast India
during 18th May.

Under the influence of the system, heavy to very heavy thunderstorms, very rough seas
and very strong winds (50-60) kmph, gusting up to (70-90) kmph can be expected over the
southeast and eastcentral Arabian Sea area (08N-20N, 65E-75E) during next few days.

Strong to very strong W'ly to SW'ly winds over Lakshadweep.
Strong SW'ly to NW'ly winds over Maldives.
Fresh to strong W'ly to SW'ly winds over Comorin.
Fresh, OCNL'y strong W'ly to SW'ly winds over SL West.
Fresh W'ly to SW'ly winds over Basses.
Moderate to fresh S'ly to SW'ly winds over SW Bay of Bengal.

SCT showers/T'showers over over Lakshadweep.
ISOL showers /T'showers elsewhere.

Rough to very rough over Lakshadweep.
Rough over Maldives.
Fairly rough to rough over Comorin.
Fairly rough, rough at times over SL West.
Moderate to fairly rough over Basses.
