WEATHER FORECAST FOR 27 April 2024

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, Uva and Southern provinces after 2.00 p.m.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in North-central province during the afternoon or night.

Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the morning.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR SEA AREAS AROUND THE ISLAND DURING NEXT 24 HOURS

 Issued at 12.00 noon on 26 April 2024.

  Condition of Rain:

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle in the evening or night.

Winds:

Winds will be south-easterly in the sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and south-westerly or variable in direction in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be (20-30)kmph.

State of Sea:

Sea areas around the island will be slight.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
